11/11 - HOSCH (GB) work with Tate and Lyle to eliminate serious spillage issues

Raw brown Sugar (90% refined) arrives by ship (from Brazil) and travels up the river Thames to the Tate and Lyle refinery in the City of London. After being discharged from the ship into a huge storage bin the raw sugar is then conveyed to the process plant.

The conveyor with the new HOSCH skirting is number 6D and has always had serious spillage problems. The photographs clearly show "before" with the old style soft rubber skirting and "after" with the new HOSCH skirting.

Tate and Lyle engineers commented that the old skirting was so ineffective that as soon as the sugar hit the belt it would force its way past the skirt and out onto the floor. They went on to say that the new HOSCH skirting has stopped this 100% and appears to be almost maintenance free.

They went on to say that the engineering maintenance teams are so impressed they are meeting week commencing 14th November to select the next belt to carry out improvements.

David Patterson, HOSCH (GB) General Manager, commented "it is nice to hear the customer say, you are indeed the spillage experts".
